How to Start and Position your WordPress Blog for Success
Think of your blog as your home base on the internet and you are inviting people over. People will meet you here, it is up to you to make them feel welcome and glad that they stopped in to read your latest musings. Give them something to think and talk about. But here is the thing, there are a zillion people on line and you are not going to reach all of them. What’s a person to do to attract like minded people?
TARGET YOUR AUDIENCE. You cannot be everything to everyone. What’s your niche? You must think about and profile the people you are trying to reach. Do this exercise; close your eyes and imagine what they look like, their life experiences, what you have in common with them, why they want to meet you and read your blog, talk to them, let your imagination take over to understand them. Write it down and profile your readers. This is sooo worth while and will save you effort and time as you are growing your audience. Now that you understand and know your audience, you will know what to include in your blog content and what products and services to promote that they may be interested in buying.
SET UP YOUR BLOG-FILL IT WITH GREAT CONTENT. This is where you will meet your guests-this is your home on the internet. Fill your blog with interesting, educational, entertaining and fun content that your targeted niche audience will want to read. As you write two to five days a week on your blog, you will begin to appreciate why you did the target audience exercise, it will help so much with the direction and flow of your content. You will build on your relationship with your readers and they will stay engaged and respond to content on your blog, your emails, videos.your podcast, how ever you are choosing to stay in contact with them.
TRAFFIC. You know why your niche targeted audience will want to find you to engage with you on your blog. You are working hard on your blog, writing good content, sharing great information, linking videos, doing podcasts and webinars, you have built it, now they just need to come…
How do you get the right targeted traffic to your home, I mean blog? Three ways: Free, Borrowed and Paid.
MONETIZE. This is why you have started your blog, to build an on line business. The main purpose in building a new business is to make money. that’s what keeps all this work fun. You are going to include offers on products, services, affiliate offers such as amazon products (for example), membership sites, ad income. Depending on your niche, you will determine what your audience will be interested in and the various ways that you can monetize your blog.
